Style or Versatility?

What would you rather be known for, your distinctive style, or your versatility (being able to make any style of instrumental regardless of sub-genre classification?)

Personally i would want to be known for my style....
People come to you for what you can do for them...
But you won't last long if your not versatile...
Style is your trademark...versatility is how you last
Then you become a Brand....

If I had to pick one of the two it would be versatility.
With versatility you could produce any style and still throw in your signature sound :)

I think it depends on the circumstances and situations you're faced to deal with. If a certain emcee (Drake, for example) wants a specific type of beat, you're going to be able to cook up a raw, generic trap beat and if another artist (Nas, for example) wants a certain boom-bap, east-coast sample based beat, you can also cook him up something.

Why not both? I'd go for versatility if it had to be one. If you make beats you'll eventually develop your own style so it's like a cheat code.
