Difference between Vinyl and LP

Clearly this might be a rookie question but I'm looking for a expert answer.

what is the difference between a vinyl record and a LP?

my album collection now of the likes of j dilla and nijabes all say LP but some 45s and some of my 10" say vinyl with no sign of a LP stamp.

help?!

LP = Long Play (can be any size but usually 12")
EP = Extended Play (can be any size but usually 7" or 10")
45RPM, 33-1/3RPM, 78RPM, 16-2/3RPM = speed for correct pitch/tempo playback

Vinyl is the material that the disc is made from regardless of size or playback speed........

So vinyl is basically anything that is a single or running at a different speed other than 33 1/3

Vinyl (in this context) is anything (i.e. any size and any playback speed) period
