Bass sounds.

What's up everybody.

I'm wonderin' if anybody knows where to get some good bass sounds.

I want a DJ Premier type bassline, but I can't really find the right sounds.

I usually filter and it works great, but I just wanna try makin' my own bassline from scratch.

It could be kits or samples, it doesn't matter. Hope y'all can help me. PEACE.

Try creating bass sounds with granular synthesis, I do this quite a lot. Take a small sample, for example a kick, and zoom as close as you can. Make a tiny loop. Try moving the loop points around to figure out what type of sounds you can come up with this technique. I usually use low-pass and a bit of resonant filter on the bass sound on my 2000XL.

if you have a mixer, you can record the sound of your finger on the plug, sounds mad old school but its dope.

Another similar kind of approach: Sample a rubber band: Place a record on your turntable. Take a good sized rubber band and stretch it from your turntables spindle to turntable's light (if yours has one of those SL-1200 style lights) or some knob on a mixer. Put the needle on the record and start recorging. Plug the rubberband with your finger. Try using a guitar pick as well.
