using cool edit pro 2

i am using cool edit pro to master and edit my recording....i was wondering what kind of tips to make my records sound better such as like normalizing and de hisser s and all the stuff under th eeffects menu, or maybe a website that explains what all the stuff does thanks for the help

I would recommend doing a search and reading up on exactly what the processes of recording, editing, mixing, and mastering are. There are specific things which must happen during each of those stages.

Also read up on what each of those "effects" does to your tracks, because not every track will need a certain "effect". Some tracks may need nothing, and will only get worse when you add things.
