what's the deal with streaming audio and .ram files....what's the ideal file size for a 74 min mix that's been converted to a .ram file and needs to be uploaded onto the web?

ive got a .ram file that's 32mb and it seems like loads....is it or is it normal?

surely someone here has some live mixes on their site, can you give me some insight here??

pleeeease help....i would be forever indebted!

It all depends on the bit rate. 32MB for a 74 minute mix isn't that much actually. On our website - URL below - has above hour-long mixes in 64kbps and they're around 30MBs. So, 32 isn't all that much really.

For being able to stream across a narrow band connection , taking net congestion into consideration you want to be getting the bit rate down to around 20kbps. 32kbps is likely to stop for bufferring.

Here a track streaming at 20kbps

more can be found on the site.

Converting the file to mono before conversion can save space , and cutting high frequency above 14 kHz can improve the quality and stop hi hats sounding to weird.
