So is it safe to say that LP Filters are defnintely are a staple in Hip-Hop?

kyng

Shutup and just do it. .
I really don't see LP Filters going out of style anytime soon. Ever since Drake started his depression music it has been around and now it's in the first 8 bars or the chorus of every song that is released.

Now Mike Will is pushing it harder than anyone else.

Thoughts?

I really only think of LPF'S when I think of Mike Will's beats. They pop up in other songs too, but I noticed it's kinda standard with Mike Will's stuff. 40 uses it but he kinda uses it different as part of the sound for his instruments instead of as a change up effect like mike will does. just my opinion

He's said before that he actually just EQs out the top end.

Also here's some other examples from other producers. I'm sure they were all trying to recreate the feel on 40 and Mike Will's tracks.

I don't know what rock you have been living under, but as far as I know, LP filters has been around for a very long time.

LP Filters have always been around. They're not just becoming a staple. They've been a staple for a very long time.

Yes of course. They were used more as a utility in Hip-Hop as opposed to now it is being used as a FX/Instrument. For example, Dilla or Premo using a HPF to cut the lows in their samples so they won't clash with the drums.

Before you try to come at someone's neck at least read understand what I was getting at because I didn't say that they didn't exist or that they weren't used in Hip-Hop.

I was simply referring to THE WAY they were being used in Hip-Hop.

I understood what you were getting at, just didn't think there was anything revolutionary about the use of lowpass filters in any shape or form you're referring to.

I don't know if it's revolutionary, but there are people who are very successful right now making a filtered sample their whole shit. It's kind of new for that to be the whole groove like has always been done in house and shit
