Remixing question!

I'm really new to remixing, I was wondering how do you guys get the vocal samples without the background music?

You can either
A. Find an Acapella and use that
or
B. Invert an Instrumental of the track to cancel out the sounds.
How? Here.
FL Studio: Mixing and Mastering

Ableton: Go to your ableton browser on the top left, then go to Audio effects > Utility
Click invert sounds on both L and R sides.

What was said above, about the acapellas. This will come in handy when you want to remix a song that has vocals in it. Now, when you're trying to remix an instrumental song, that's some real problem you've got there. Normally you'd need to get your hands on the stems of said song.

Acapella are definetly the way to go. Sometimes I even use the original song if it doesn't have any big drums in it and I'll eq around the vocal. I've heard some pretty cool remixes done that way
