record more than one track

i was at a studio with a digi 002 rack and a tango 24 adat interface. i made a beat there and when it was time to track the beat the engineer recorded all the tracks at once. i want a set up like that where i can record all the tracks at once. will i need that same set up or can anybody tell me another way i can achieve the same thing for a less expensive price. for instance a cheaper (but good) adat interface or something.

That's a good way to do it. The 002Rack as 8 line inputs (4 have preamps if you need them), and 8 inputs via ADAT optical. The regular 002 also has this. I'm looking at a couple different preamp options, but more expensive than this one you mentioned. (Presonus Digimax, Focusrite Octopre).
