Parallel EQ versus serial EQ

The main difference is where the input of each filter comes from.

In parallel the input of every filter is simply the main-input, all are summed together afterwards (graphic equalizers and a few exotic analogue EQs work this way).

In serial setup, every filter is fed by the output of the previous filter (which is the how standard parametric EQs are connected). the output is simply the output of the last filter. That is, the previous filter will affect the preceeding filter and so on.

There is practically no sound difference. Both are capable of correcting problems. It's more a look & feel difference, where serial EQs are the most predictable and accurate and parallel EQs more about rough try and error because of their nearly unpredictable reaction.
