Parallel Compression

I've seen tutorials where they are just using one compressor or multiple so I am confused on what this is.

Is just sending drums to a compressor aux parallel compression, or do you need a regular one too?

For example, if I bus my drums to a compressor, then send them to another, is this right, or something else?

Parallel compression just means that you're mixing both the (heavily) compressed signal and the clean or lightly compressed signal. Whichever way you do it is up to you.

Yes to what @Krushing said. Also, there are other ways to use. I use parallel processing when an element in a mix is missing something. Lets a Bass guitar lacks presence, I would parallel that with distortion amp, roll of the bass frequencies and add it back to the original.
