movie trailer voice effect

I searched the internet for advice about how to use effects deepen the voice...like in movie trailers...but did not find much. One advice was to talk fast and then slow down the speed...hmm that sounds like a Flintstones approach. Hope you guys have a better solution...like a EQ setting or something like that.

i've done this (sort of) using Sonic foundry Vegas, though it must be as easy to do in other packages & samplers. Just select the file, track clip whatever it's called in your particular package and play it back using a time stretch function. By doing this you can select the track length to stay the same but you can drop it in pitch by a few notes before the digital artefacts show up.

Also, when you record it, use a dynamic mic like an SM58 that will emphasise the bass due to the proximity effect and obviously make sure the person speaking is very close to the mic. Compress the hell out of the track when you play it back and maybe boost the lower mid range a touch.

Don't forget to speak like an ******* who smokes 60 cigarettes a day too :)

Take the voice, duplicate it and send it to diiferent locations on panning. L63. L32, R32, R63
Take each one of the voices and modifly slightly the tune, they should not coincide on the same tune value.
These settings will recreate a chorus.
Take three of the 4 voices, and modify the pitch on -1, -2 and -3.
on each voice.
Now you have the same voice on 4 different pitch samples.

The modification on the pitch will affect the length of the sample, and the voices won't sound unisono if you play them together.

So, stretch the time of the three voices to make them fit with the normal one. Stretching time works better with small length samples, sometimes you'll need to separate the words.

With a variphrase, this work should be a piece of cake.

get the guy with the deepest voice u kno and get him to record the voice sample... and encourage him to go even lower!
