Which monitors should I get?

These are both the same price and all I can afford right now:

* Samson Resolv 50a: http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-SAM-RES50A.html
* Alesis M1 Active 520: http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-ALE-M1ACTIVE520.html

The Alesis speakers have a frequency response of 56-20k and the Samsons's have a frequency response of 70-20k. The Alesis's are a little bit exaggerated in the bass according to a Sound On Sound review. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug06/articles/alesism1.htm The Samson's have a reputation of being flat according to some user reviews. The Alesis's have a bass cut switch (halfspace and quarterspace compensation). Both are the same price.

Should I go with flatness instead of bass response?
Which do you think I should get?
 
I would go with the Alesis. Not a big fan of the Samson brand in general. Other than that, monitors in that price range will all give you around the same performance.

I have the samson Resolve50a's they sound pretty good to me, the low end responds good when u get them really beatin. And they are pretty flat
 
Mackies...they might b a lil out of price range i would go wit the alesis jump offs tho
 
I wouldn't bother with expensive monitors until you can actually hear whats going on. When you have a good room, then get some good monitors.
