Hello everyone.

When mixing a trance beat w/ bass line. In relation to each other, if the BD is hitting at -3 db. Where should the bass hit, -6 or -5 db?

There are not actual settings. Best way to do it, is listen.

Yeah man it totally depends.

If you listen to some of Chicane's new stuff (Off of "Giants"), it's pretty trancey.

He'll sometimes have a pretty week kick drum and a real overpowering synth lead and lead bass.

Then there are those artists that have a real heavy kick drum and thinner bass line. It just depends.

Listen to a lot of different artists then try to come up with your own mixture of kick/bass. Depends on the feel of the track too.

You can try some sidechaining if you want a loud full kick and a loud full bass line going at the same time...

It seems like trance traditionally has a weaker kick than other techno genres, but that's not always true.
