Mixing kicks

Whats up everybody, ive been making beats on fl for a little bit and im really getting into it and trying to get good at the art of making beats, and one thing im really having trouble with is mixing, especially mixing kicks.

heres the kick and snare from a beat ive been working on pre mix and post mix:

I dont really know how to attach files into the post, hopefully it work lol.

Whenever i take the high end out of a kick it always sounds too........ empty. I dont really know how to explain it, it just doesnt sound like i think a kick should. Mabye its just me, what do you guys think? Does that kick sound good?

Also, i cant get that pop sound out of the first kick in the post mix, i think its because of the slight distortion i put on it. Anybody know what that is?

All i want to know is if the kick sounds good or not, all i have is some 60 dollar headphones so its kinda hard for me to tell

It all depends on the mood and style you are aiming for.
I think it sounds hard when it is deep like that. It all depends on the sounds you used before mixing it.
You don't have to ALWAYS put the high frequency down if they kick has a nice crunch sound or something.
For the kick you used, it is advised and it sounds fine like that and hard.
