I posted this one already but I think that its origional title may have not sounded interesting enough cause no on answered.

I have been experimenting with several mics on my guitar amplifier in order to increase my mixing options -close mic sm57 and room condensor mics. However phasing has become the bane of my recording enjoyment. I am wondering if anyone knows any mic placement methods or tips to avoid this. Something about the distance between mics and the direction they are pointing????? I'm not sure.
Cheers!

if you are ambient micing your amp from behing you should flip the phase on that mic....
and you just have to experiment with ptoximety effect on far room mics...
try this:
put your sm57 about 1-2 inches from grille clothe, and about 1-2 inches left or right of speaker center..

place your room mic 6 to 8 feet back and 12 to 16 inches off floor...

due room sizes and reflections placing mic's very high and far away can cause lots of weird anomalies...
anyway hope this helps
