Identifying issue, either condenser or interface

I've got a scarlett 2i4 audio interface and SE 2200a II c I use to record vocals on a mid range HP laptop.

Had this setup a good 5 or 6 years with no issue, but today I went to record and Audacity wont pick anything up.

I've played around with the Scarlett's gain and when that's full it picks up my voice but also a ridiculous amount of fuzzy white noise.

I got a new XLR cable (trying to sort the cheapest possible issue first) but the same thing happens.

Any ideas on troubleshooting to work out whether I have a microphone or interface issue? I'm thinking I'll buy a microphone, test that, and if it doesnt work I need a new interface and vice versa, but are there any other solutions/things I may be missing?

Borrow or rent a microphone if possible.

The interface may just be at the point in its career (needs replacement). But you won’t be sure until you try a different mike. You do use a windscreen? Nothing has changed in your gain-staging, internal settings, etc., etc.?
