I was wondering, Is there ever a time when you don't use parallel compression and is it ok if it's not use all the time?

I never used it but some people use it all the time. If you're using a compressor that has a "mix" knob that can give you the same effect. Me, I was just too lazy to either create a new bus or copy a track and process it separate and I never felt I needed it anyway.
