How to make my drum sample bang after mixing

I have this really sick drum sample with 808s and it sounds distorted after anything louder then -4.6 db any tips on how to mix it with the rest of my project without having it sound weak when everything is mixed all together thx

There is a chance that the drum sample you are working with may already contain limiting and compression. This is not a good thing. Try to work with drum samples that do not contain limiting & compression. Otherwise, the drum sample will sound double-over saturated when you apply limiting and compression on your master bus. Hope that makes sense. If you can get the raw elements of the drum sample and remix it yourself, even the better.
