How can I record a vocalist this way??

Hi there, i am currently recording a singer using a mac desktop, logic pro 9 and an M Audio fgirewire 410 audio interface. The problem is, I can figure out how to set it up so that I can adjust the vocal level coming in the singers headphones without it affecting the signal that is being recorded... How can I do this? I would appreciate your help Thank you

Looks like ur interface has 2 dedicated gains/trims for 2 headphone outputs, use those knobs to control the appropriate channel.

In other words, look for the headphone labels which are towards the right on the top half of the image.
