Difference between Double Mono and Stereo

What's up i've got this question that's been bugging me for a while...

What is the difference between having two mono channels (both identical in note arrangement and sound level) stereo panned equally to opposite sides, and having One channel be true stereo...

it's exactly the same. double mono is just a little more flexible (you can for example flip left and right, something that usually isn't possible on a mixer's stereo channel).

You can bounce all you your tracks down to stereo or double mono. One will give you a single stereo track and the other will give you 2 left and right tracks. When they are played together they should sound exactly the same. I have never found a purpose (in anything I have done) for using double mono.

with a double mono i usually try to put different effects on each mono... hard panned left and right ...or sometimes 9 and 3 .
