Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, hoping to learn some stuff about producing music.

I have just started to learn mixing and mastering audio. What is your guys' workflow when it comes to mixing audio in a DAW.

What my workflow looks like so far is:
1. Organization
2. Grouping & Creating AUX channels
3. Gain Staging
4. Balancing
5. EQing
6. Compression
7. Delay and Reverb
8. Panning
9. Bouncing the mix

Is there anything I'm missing? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It depends, but usually I use compressor after delay and reverb. I am not sure it is a way to go, but often it glues the sound together better. I also do panning earlier, because it makes a lot of impact on the percived loudness of the sound in the mix.

I personally always start with a rough mix, so I’d be able to get a good balanced picture of the entire song (even if it’s my own production from scratch) it helps me to know where I want things to go
