What do acronyms like DAW and VST stand for in production?

People use all of the acronyms that I don't know what they mean, even though I probably use them or know what they are.

What is the difference between say a DAW and a VST, and what are some examples of them in music making?

Thanks

DAW is Digital Audio Workstation. VST is Virtual Studio Technology.

So Cubase, FL, Live, Reason, etc.. are DAW's.

VST's are plug ins. So like Trilogy, Massive, etc.. are VST's

couldnt explain that any better

Nothing wrong with being a newbie, but things as straightforward as definitions for terminology can be found very quickly through simple Googling. That said, sometimes things can be hard to understand or they're explained using other technical terms but more often than not it's worth it to give it a shot.

Google and Wikipedia are your friend...use them well.

I have a glossary of audio terms on my site (upper left corner). It is not perfect, but it is something that will get you started and you can go back and use it as a reference from time to time. www.NewProducer101.com
