hey everyone....i been dreaming about getting started with mixing for a while but i never knew how to go about it. then i was surfing the web and i found this sit...and it kicks ***!!! wow... u guys on here are great and this different dimension of music is mind blowing...so heres my thing, i wanna get into DeeJaying but only at home and like for my friends and stuff....i dont wanna spend a ton of money cuz this isnt sumthing i am gonna go out and get a job with....what would be some good ideas to go about with? i read on here sumthing about cd mixing? would that be good for what i wanna do? i am totally lost....but music is my passion and i want to take it to the next level....if u could help me out or give me some suggestions that would be sweet...thanks guys...love, peace, superdamodel

Well, well....


Even though u don't wanna go too cheap, you do get what u pay for.

Get Direct Drive Tables, a mixer with eq cuts, hamster switch, x-fader slope control, and other basic goodies. Direct Drive tables are more accurate than belt, start up quicker, and hold thier resale value better.

The Numark Battle-Pak would be my recommendation. It's $500, comes with 2 Numark TT1520 Direct Drives, 2 neoprene slipmats, cartridges, headshells, and a DM1001x mixer. The Gemini Scratchmaster is comparable, but it comes with rubber slipmats (bad) and the mixer is sub-par in comparison to the Gemini. The tables are slightly more expensive than the Numarks, but the Gemini's have more toys (pitch-bend). Once u take away the cost of the toys, u have one cheap table.

That'z just my opinion, and I'm sure everyone will have a different opinion. I've noticed that many people seem to have a love affair with Stanton, so there will be plenty of people pushing that.

Keep in mind - don't spend ALL of your money on equipment. Make sure u have some money to buy vinyls, at LEAST 5 or 10. The less vinyl, the quicker u become bored. My starting budget was $800 and I got the Battle-Pak and 50 vinyls rather than deplete my budget on Technics/Vestax, and now I'm having a blast. I do plan to upgrade in the future, when more cash rolls my way.

Stay away from satelliterecords.com....I had a bad experience with them, and many people on this forum will tell u the same thing.

Yeah I agree,

I'm doing the same thing you wanna do now, only djing at my friends parties and for myself. I plan to get better though and expand my audience. Im buying the Numark Battlepak because of its great price and I've heard many things about it, you can get it for cheaper than $500 at http://www.competitionsound.com if you have a greater budget, check out the numark phatpak.
