What's the range to start charging for an exclusive track? A track that could potentially be a single on an album?

Depends on who you sell it to. Is it an independent label, a major, or is somebody just selling it out the trunk? The bigger the label, the bigger the artist's budget will be, hence the more you can charge.
Your reputation will affect what you can get too.

it would depend on your exposure and standing already.
if you have had nothing out and this would be your first thing it will remove alot of your bargaining power unless the majors are pounding down your door to get you.

one thing i see all too often is people attaching too high a price to their tracks when they are essentially a nobody.
a small fee and huge exposure makes for a very good deal for a new producer/artist/beatmaker.

asking for a large fee and ending up with nothing seems less of a good deal IMHO.
