hi folks,

I'm a general music dude, play most instruments, YouTube tutorials, film composer, choir arranger, music journalist. Just started producing seriously over the last few months. hmu

Hey man, new user here and completely new to production...

Any good tips for just starting out? Where is a good place to start? Beat first? Chord progression or melody? What is a good number of tracks that generally amounts to a good song?

I think in getting started, just having some kind of "bar" to shoot for will help a lot in terms of starting and moving ideas along. I will typically just mess around on a keyboard and try to find some combination of notes that sound good, but have trouble really knowing if what I'm doing is really worth tracking.

Any general info or insight you have would be awesome. Thanks!
