Logic Pro - awful screeching sound?

hello, I just bought and installed Logic Pro for the first time. Whenever I enable recording, a horrible screeching noise comes up and everything maxs out. Any idea why it's doing this?
 
What does the screeching sound exactly sound like? Does it sound like a microphone feedback type screech?
 
ah yes, I meant to come back and say that it definitely sounds like mic feedback, but I'm just using my macbook's built-in mic, how would I get it to stop?
 
I'm having the same problem, but even with headphones plugged in. It's not feedback, I isolated every input and it's definately coming from logic by itself when recording is enabled.
