i know for mosy of you this is a dumb question but i would really like to know

???

can´t generalize- depends on the tempo (bpm).
you´ll understand that 16 bars won´t last so many seconds
when played at 200beats per minute like it would if played at 20 beats per minute.
there was a thread going on last week- do a search.
think carnage posted some formula concerning that.

maybe this one helps you

Hmm. Here's some calculations: one measure lasts 60/BPM seconds, so at 120 BPM 16 bars is 8 seconds. Hope this helps (more). :)

16 bars at 120BPM would be 32 seconds(1 bar would = 2 seconds).

sketch is correct, because, remember we're working in 4/4 (im assuming) so each measure gets 4 beats so you have a total of 64 beats in your 16 bar phrase...

to find bpm
ex 100bpm find how many seconds it take to play 1 bar

given
bar = 1, 4 beats = 1 bar, 60seconds = bpm(1minute)

1bar * 4beats =4
4/100bpm ====0.04
0.04*60(seconds it take to comeplete 1 minute)=2.4seconds

2.4 seconds to play 1 bar

this is based on 4/4 measure

Plug in the number and you get an answer...... this works welll with timestretch/shrink aswelllll

Peace
