How to make slightly distorted kick drum?

I noticed that some soundclick artists use a slightly distorted kick drum... how do I do that without turning the volume up so its really clipping.

Whatever DAW you're using should have one or two included. look for words like "Distortion, Crusher, Amp, Overdrive" in your factory plugs. Some filters are made to do cool FX like this as well.

I've heard a lot of SoundClick artists with assumedly unintentionally distorted kickdrums...

Anyway, I like Ohmicide & guitar amp sims, mainly Amplitude atm. Would really like to love nXtasy, as it sounds great but it's a bit buggy on OSX (probably works just fine on the Win side). The rest of it is various plugins which include but don't solely focus on distortion or saturation but can be used to do it...
