How to Get rid of Lag?

I have a Athlong 2ghz, bout 400 mb ram... win xp.. a Santa Cruz sound card, and a 61 key m audio controlelr with fruity loops..

But the notes arent coming out exactly how i play them... Anyone can help me with this? do i need a beter sound card or what?
 
Install asiio4all drivers and choose the asio drivers within the audio options of FL. Doing a search on any search engine will bring up the page for the drivers.

Then go to the audio option in FL and switch to the asio4all driver and lower the buffer/latency setting to the point that the latency is not that big and that you don't get crackles in your audio.

but, i had already typed in lag in fruity loop help, and it told me to lower the buffer! it worked! but maybe those drivers u speak of can let me raise the buffer more without lag, so the sound wont crack with less lag, u feel me lol
