How do you make your Bass THUMP?

How do you guys bring up the bass on your equipment/sampler? Do you run the sample thru a filter?

What sort of techniques do you use?

I just pick a bass with thump. But you know you can EQ those things right? Add some bass into it, take a bit of treble down. Im no expert now for sure but, hey that usually works good! Get a thump sound and have it trigger with your bass. Thats much harder cause you need the notes. Just find a thump bass!

It depends on the bass sample /patch. There's no general rules, but I'd do:

1 - distort it a little
2 - play with subtractive EQ
3 - filter out the sub-subs (30hz or less)

Some people use bass enhancer plugins, but I don't think it can fix a crappy sample.

EQ, compression, parallel compression, filter, slight chorus etc....

But before you try any of those, try using the bass sound in mono.
