FL studio won't stop recording to step sequencer

i have a m-audio radium thru usb, and everything works fine, but FL studio 4.1 won't stop recording to the step sequencer. i need to record into the piano roll.

i've already tried unchecking 'record to step sequencer' in midi settings, and it doesn't seem to do anything.

i wrote fruityloops tech and they havn't written back yet, but it's on my boy's computer so i don't care how long it takes. i was just wondering if any of you had the same problem before.
