Best drumpads when it comes to features?[Padkontrol died]

Mpd18 still works so that's not the issue.
So what pads are as robust as a padkontrol in terms of features?
Kaosspad seems to be the only alternative to the inbuilt x/y modulation area in the padkontrol for the roll/flam which can be done in the daw itself as well.
Switching from 1/4 to 128 etc however is not plausible in some instances without such a thing so if there is a way a mashine/ren etc could do what a padkontrol could do then it'd make that portion easier to base a decision on.

Nanokontrol is in perfect shape and doesn't seem to be affected by issues that arise from using the padkontrol no knobs and faders are also not an issue.
Would it make any sense to replace the shorted padkontrol with:
Maschine[the controller version]
Ren
Newer akai mpd
Kaoss[not too sure] x/y modulator if it can do what korg's x/y could?
nanopad

Since the padkontrol has shorted and I already have a simple drumpad, the only logical replacement for the padkontrol would be one of those it seems.
And also, since daw parameters can be controlled by any control surface of any type, could/would it be a wiser decision to instead...stick to the mpd and just find dedicated x/y pads and modulate rolls/flam etc with that instead?

Padkontrol's x/y modulation area had a couple settings pre programmed into the control area so a kaoss pad would just be one of those that is the exact same thing?
kaoss is just a dedicated x/y pad, and I do not see the benefits of it.

whoops padkontrol still works, usb hub wasn't giving enough juice so the unknown device descriptor error kept popping up.
