Beat Maker/Mixing Engineer

Yerr whaddup yall. I'm just starting out, but I'm curious is there a thin line between a beat maker and a mixing engineer in certain aspects? How much credit can we give a beat maker making drums sound the way they do?

With people for widely recognizable drums like 9th Wonder what would a mixing engineer likely do to his drums since they have probably been compressed/eq/layered plenty of times

Thats an interesting point,

in terms of ur second question if 9th wonder's drums sounded perfect when it left his production then hopefully the mixing engineer was smart enough to not do anything to his drums. If the drums werent quite there yet then im sure the mixing engineer would have spiced it up.

Most producers use kits/vsti's so they sound is pretty clean when the engineer gets it.
The engineer basically just makes sure the overall sound is clean.
I know cats didn't like 9ths drums at first but i know why he used them, they're MPC friendly, trust
me i use the same kit a lot.

Peace
