Marking vinyl for scratching - stickers or marker pen?

I was just wondering if anyone ever uses a marker pen to mark where a sample starts/stops on a record?

If used accurately I was thinking that this could almost act like noting cue points on Serato or something like that.

Normally I'll use a sticker, but this can seriously mess up the record or can sometimes lack accuracy.

If anyone knows whether a permanant marker pen will do any damage to the groove or effect the sound, or uses this without any problems please let me know.

Cheers!

As most vinyl is black would that work? Stickers are the norm and can be very accurate but does take time to be bang on.

The benefit of a sticker is the needle slides to the correct point whereas a pen mark wouldn't

That's true. I've tried using red and green pens which you can see easily.

I've only ever used stickers that point out from the spindle. Do you know any good links to tutorials which show you how to mark accurately?
