How do I make sure I'm not running into any legal or copyright issues when creating my sets and mixes? Does anyone have a check list or a list of things that need to be taken care of?

    Are you performing live?

Where? What agreements have you made?

Venue should pay ASCAP and BMI fees.

Are you practicing at home? No issues whatsoever.

Will you be presenting mixes live? No issues, as long as the venue or promoter has taken care of performance rights.

Are you trying to release a recording of your mix? CD, LP, radio broadcast, Soundcloud, or podcast? Then you have a lot of licenses to deal with. "Do NOT pass 'GO,' and do NOT collect $200..."
