In the face of it this looks good from the guys behind mixed in key. Good hardware support, stem support.

In practice it's too limited and doesn't work great on a number of controllers.

Still, more stem support is what's needed if this format is to stay.

Mixed in Key has some solid products so it's definitely backed by a good company. However, like you said, if the STEM format is going to stick around, it's going to need to be adopted sooner rather than later and not by fringe products. It looks like they support most of the mainstream controllers (Pioneer, Numark, etc.). Will be curious if it ends up making it's way to more controllers over time.
