In conversation with SoulCulture TV in London, prolific Hip Hop producer Just Blaze explains: The remix became a marketing tool and a BDS [Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems] spin generator, [which calculates multi-platform airplay figures] so the artform got taken out of it and the dollars got put into it If you change the beat, the computers that run BDS dont pick it up as the same song. So the whole point is to get more spins

So if this is the case then why not do 2 different remixes?? One for the radio, & the other w/ different beat, verses, etc.

Why go through the expense when your main objectives is to get more spins on the main song.

If your main object is to get more spins on the main song then there's no point. If your objective is to make an ill as remix that rivals the original, it makes perfect sense. Shit nowadays you could have Joe Blow make the beat, send the files to whoever you want to get on it, & post it online instantly. Not much expense in that.

Joe Blow making the beat = cheap
whoever you want to get on it = a bit more expensive.

Most rappers nowadays swap it out verse for verse, verse for beat, etc. Plus if it's a big record the artist will wanna get on it for exposure (depending on who they are). People are doing features right & left what are you talkin about??

EX: U think Lloyd Banks paid people to jump on the Beamer, Benz, or Bentley remix??

You're right assuming relationships are good and all yea. But I think it would be wrong to assume he didn't pay. Label clearance fee's etc etc. Its all a business.

^I agree i'm just saying most artists getting national radio play can get a remix done pretty cheap.
