There are many many classic albums, but for now I'd reccommend that you get hold of (if you don't have them already):
Notorious BIG - Ready To Die & Life After Death
2pac - Me Against The World & All Eyez On Me
Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
Dr Dre - The Chronic
Nas - Illmatic
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt & The Blueprint
Like I said, there are many more, but if you haven't got any of these albums then I strongly reccommend that you get em.
If you would like me to name some of the more lesser known classics (sounds like a contradiction but I'm sure you know what I mean), then just say.

Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill ... Great album, but a lot of guys don't like R&B so it doesn't really make the first list.
India.Arie - Acoustic Soul ... This one is just full of beautiful, original, soulful sounds that I think anyone could fall in love with.
Ludacris - Back For The First Time ... This CD was so goddamn good that Luda is still coasting off of its quality. I've noticed a decline in quality, more sharp after Word of Mouf, but I've bought every new Luda release just praying he gets back to the days when he was REALLY a monster on the mike (It worked out when I was doubting Jay-Z). If you like him now then you need this CD.
Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer ... Great, great album. Masta Ace has been doing it for a long time, but this is really the first time he's had the production to give his words the right punch. You won't be sorry if you check this one out.
DMX - It's Dark and Hell is Hot ... God, I love this album. It's gritty and raw, but it has a very real feel. Yeah, he talks about typical gangsta ****, but something about the way he flows gives everything a personable feel, like that's just how he is, but he's a complete person at the same time. Too slept on.
Every Outkast album ever released... These guys are a favorite of mine, and for good reason. From Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik to Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, they somehow manage to keep their sound fresh and their lyrics crisp. If you don't have all their albums, get em.
Cee-Lo - Cee-Lo Green is the Soul Machine ... Beautiful music on this one. Cee-Lo enlists some big-time talent to help him out on the production, and he, of course, brings his own flavor to any track he's on. If you liked him on any of the tracks you've heard him on, I highly recommend this one.

and one that everyone should get cause its soon gonna become a classic is Jin's "My Last Entry". Im not usre if this is going to drop as a full length cd or what the fukc this is, but i got this on bootleg, and all i can say is WOW !!! I have been playing this 24/7 for the last week or so...I dont care what anybody says, but in my opinon JIN was the most underrated rapper on a major...I hope he comes back to do his thing, at least as an Indie Artist were he could have creative control over what he does with his music...holla!
