I have tried to figure out the chords for this song (Frontin) forever. I have seen a lot of people play it (including me) but it never sounds quite right.

Those chords above are incorrect, but I believe California is right about the bridge.

Am7- Bm7.

Minor Seventh chords.

First chord is Cmaj7 with a note from the other chord (Dmaj7) A
and the second is Dmaj7 with a B from the first chord

So Cmaj-A-B and Dmaj-B-C#

just playing the bass line it is F, G. So the chords more than likely some variation of F, G.
