Holy crap, how do I turn off email subscriptions to every freaking thread?

This is crazy. In the emails, it gives me a link to unsubscribe from all threads, but it doesn't show me how to keep from subscribing to every thread I post in. Help, please!

• go to my account
• general settings
• set your e-mail notifications as you would like under Default thread subscription mode
• save changes (scroll to the bottom of the page)
