I joined futureproducers hoping for advice from someone to help give me some info on schools studying production and audio recording and give advice on where and what to do to pursue a career in music production. thanks for your help. i promise it will not go wasted.

You could try an SAE education, I know there's a school in Nashville, which would be the closest one for you (there are also SAE schools in NYC and Miami as well). Check out www.sae.edu for more info.
The only other thing you can do to get ahead in the biz is try to get as many feet in as many doors as possible, use every connection you've got and try to work as much as you can. That's really all you can do.
 
Go to music confrences like South by Southwest, Atlantis, CMJ, and Boonafied. So much info. it's awesome.

Also read all you can. Go to your local bookstore and read a few books on Artist Management, Starting Your Own Record Label, Distribution Made Easy, and Songwriting.
