Producer\Production Points!!!

Guys, Pharrell Williams, Scott Storch, Timbaland, Bryan-Michael Cox, Rodney Jerkins, Dr. Dre, J.R Rotem etc are Traditional Record Producer's that Co-Writes the music. They are what you call Producer/Songwriter's as they are basically wearing two hats as a Producer and a Songwriter which is why they get Songwriting and Production credits for both roles. That's why Bryan-Michael Cox always says that he's Songwriter/Producer as he reffers to beat making as writing and composing music or writing songs. Basically these guys are wearing the Songwriters hat when they Co-Write songs such as the Music(Beat) while the Artist or a Co-Writer will top-line the beat, the Lyrics(words/vocal melody) and then the Producer's hat when they aren't making beats that acts as your tradtional Record like your Quincy Jones or P-Diddy that oversees the overal vision of the finished record all the way down to the mix stage that gives feedback or input during the production process. They will assist the Artist and Engineer in guidance, coach the Artist to rap or sing a certain to get the best vocal peformance out of them and bring the Record together to make sound as best as possible. That's why these guys are called Producers in the first place because they are real Producer's like Quincy Jones not track makers that only just make beats. Hope this clears things up.
