Content strategy & search engine optimization

Hey guys,

So I am a rapper and also worked full time as a digital marketing specialist for over a year at a tech company. After learning how to market industries from various verticals ranging from optometry to software development I've gained a broader scope on how music should be marketed through content strategy combined with SEO.

Creating content that will get people to press play on a next rap song for me was telling my story outside of music. I figured if people dig my story, they'd give the music a chance (whether or not they like it is subjective). I know being sober five years as a poly addict was something I could talk about, something I could perhaps help people with.

I looked for gaps on YouTube I could fill, stood in my own lane, told my story with no competition and now I'm at 67K subscribers and getting 400 a day, got trademarked, LLC, started a nonprofit, been on channel 8 news lol. Also, I hired developers to make my own social media platform. Blood, sweat, tears... Actually had to quit music a year to make it all happen.

Anyways, I thought I would share this ideology of marketing music. Tell your story, blogs, vlogs, do some funny shit, learn SEO. I feel social media is over-hyped, search engines are so self-building without having to pay to sponsor post but get paid.

This is one of my music videos on my channel. I got a lot of work on the rapping part lol I'm glad I took a year to brand build and am diving back into music.
