Virus Warning thread (Update: ISSUE FIXED!)

Did anyone enter that win a custom mpc 4000 contest? The contest said it was for guitar center but only linked from here to the sign up page. I never saw anything at guitar center. Was that real or did mano sell that info?

Um, are you "infected" people actually getting some malware problems or simply some warnings of potential harm?

This appears to be some sort of relatively low-threat redirector worm that once the site developers look around will be able to find and remove it. Until then, update IE or better yet, use a different browser.

THOSE ONES!!!!!!!!!                    When I said "warnings" I meant warnings from my floor manager... not from the symantec. Next time won't be a warning but a 2 days suspension.

The temp folder Internet files got stuck.

The IT manager sent me a sametime message:

-Mauricio, you're punk'd
-you got virus
-log off from your computer
-stop looking pornography
-who's your team leader?
-I'm reporting you....

This site was always clean of this s*it.

But lately I've observed, I don't know how to name it.... decadence?????

Are you guys still getting that google message? Google never showed me that message and my virus scanner never picked up any threats either.

Balma, just keep off from FP at work for now. It's not worth it.

I can't even log onto FP from my job anymore since this started. The site is banned for security reasons now

Now I'm getting intrusion attempts from "Quicktime RTSP URI BO" from ns1tecnobe.com every time I log on.

I understand that this site isn't Mano's life and he has issues and responsibilities to deal with in the real world that take precedent over FP but there should at least be another site admin or somthing that could look into this. For a site this large this should've been fixed by now.

When I loaded up FP yesterday PC-cillin warned me that it had detected a virus on my computer called "XML_HACK.AO".

According to TrendMicro, the virus is "a specially crafted XML file that exploits a vulnerability in Apple QuickTime 7.1.3" and that it "crashes the Apple QuickTime 7.1.3 and allows remote users to issue commands on the affected system".

Hope this helps...

I am getting the Google warning, doesn't matter which machine I'm using (besides the phone, obviously).

Do I have to have some kind of google account to get the warning? I run a search for FP on google, it's the first link that comes up, and no virus warning.

Thanks to everyone for all the other responses. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about the situation.

The Google warning comes on sites and links to futureproducers...but not on the home page. But the site has been flagged by Google as unsafe... manoneeds to fix it. There's really no excuse for this... Mano might be gone or something during the holiday season...but this is a serious problem. Especially being a programmer. But people are going to stop coming on the site if they're scared their PC will end up with HIV.

temporary fix - use firefox. was having the same issues that everyone's complaining about, and haven't had one problem since running firefox instead.

Maybe folks are using an older version of IE? Like I've mentioned before, I always have the latest updates installed for my software. Sure, you shouldn't have to, but it's reality and software updates are necessary to prevent virus infections.

I think I already mentioned it, but the front page result is the only one that doesn't show that warning. Google for something that results in a link to a thread or a profile - bingo.
