Thank you Ki for the reply, I am trying to automate the articulations, velocity, panning, quantization of garageBand Strings, in Logics' Piano Roll there is an editor that is called Hyper Draw-it is called Region Based Automation to distinguish it from Track Based Automation. My two copies of Logic both do strange things,an example- in one song the whole group of strings starts the background to the solo using Pizzicato and then after 13 bars must switch to arco.
I can create the nodes along the timeline in the editor and the articulations are starting at 0 up to 127,but the software instruments do not always follow what is in that editor so bouncing the track isn't possible because it is always full of wrong articulations.
I have tried out of frustation dragging the node which should trigger the strings to switch to arco to the left, backwards in time, unintentionally creating a straight slope and once in a while the strings will play all the many articulations in their repetoire because, I assume the songposition vertical line is passsing over this slope. I then add another node to make the change occur exactly at bar 13 and return at bar 26 to Pizzicato.
This gives visually three lines horizontally from left to right with the Pizzicato bars being at the begining and the ending. The line in the middle is where they should switch to arco, it must be set to a value between 118 and 127, in Logic the 127 is at the top of this editor and the 0 is at the bottom. I have moved the line all the way up and down at least a few hundred times and in ten or so cases the editor worked and the strings played as automated in bars14 to 25 arco. Every time I open a project these settings have disappeared or changed to something I don't need and I have to start over again. That is why I am looking for a daw or MIDI editor that could do these things, I have tried Cubase and while having almost identical features to Logic the Steinberg tech help is clueless and the forum still full of very interesting posts from ten years ago.
Do you now understand the problem?
