Sequencer suggestions

I am looking to acquire a Roland JV1080 or 2080 and was wondering if anyone out there who already uses one could point me out in the right direction...I'm wondering what kind of sequencing program you guys use with your Roland gear...do you sequence on a computer (if so, what program are you using)? Are you using a different type of sequencer? Do you just lay down audio tracks and not sequence your parts at all?
