Recycle?

So, I had been using recycle to slice up some of my more lengthy samples, then exporting the rex files to battery and using my midi controller to launch the samples. At any rate, my copy of recycle started acting up. Someone suggested that I get a copy of Intakt because, they noted, that it does the same thing(s) as recycle and more. So I got Intakt, imported my .wav file, then had to add each and every slice myself. To me, this is no different than chopping up each piece in soundforge then importing each slice into battery.

So my questions are:

Am I simply using Intakt incorrectly?

If I am using it correctly, is there any more modern piece of software that does what Recycle did/does?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
