Hissing Issues in Cubase LE 4 Plz Help

I have had this problem since I purchased my interface in 2008. For some reason anytime I open Cubase LE4 I get this load hissing noise into my speakers and headphones. My input gains are not even turned up so I do not get why I am hearing noise. I have a lexicon Alpha interface. I am running on a Pc. There no mixers in this chain or anything else inbetween my keyboard and my audio interface. I also use Sonar Home Studio for recording and I do not have this problem in Sonar. Only Cubase. What am I doing wrong?
Specs Windows XP SP 3, Pentium 4 processor 3.0ghz 1.5gb of ram.

Cubase Hissing Serpent Solution

Here's the answer - PLAIN AND SIMPLE. In our experience, 99.9 % of the time you are getting this hiss problem because you are running your Cubase project on an external hard drive. Here's the solution - copy your project and move it to a local hard drive and then reopen the project from the local drive and lo and behold - hiss problem gone and more hair on your scalp saved from being torn out!
