Cubase 8, Time Signatures

Is it possible to have several different ones for different midi clips, playing at the same time? If so, how?

Would've liked to make an arpeggiated sequence but don't want it to start over at the first note, but rather keep it looping back naturally on itself indefinitely while keeping my beat at a regular 4/4, for example.

from the manual pp1106 and following it is only possible to set one time signature per section

however what you want to do is not impossible just requires some creative thinking

say for example you want a 7/8 repeated pattern against your 4/4 (8/8)

you would do this by making 8 copies of the 7/8 pattern in sequence (this is the same as 7 bars of the 4/4 pattern) - glue these together and then copy as often as needed

if you then wanted to say have another repeated pattern in 5/8 against both 7/8 and 4/4 you would need to find the lowest common multiple of all three that was a full bar of 4/4

5 x 7 x 8 = 280 which gives us

40 bars of 7/8
35 bars of 4/4
56 bars of 5/8

the rest s just applied maths

I see what you're saying but I'm struggling to apply it in my case.

I want my track to be in 16 bar parts, and the only time I can get it to match my structure and end on any 16th bar is when I've copied the clip until it ends at the 288th bar.. Which is quite ridiculous.

I suppose I just need to copy my clip like this for however long I'd want it to play.. It's not really a problem, it's just a bit awkward, especially when I loop any given section of the sequencer.

My clip is playing for 2 bars and one beat.

2 bars 1 beat in 4/4 = 9 beats
16 bars in 4/4 = 64 beats

9 x 64 = 576 beats = 144 bars before they synch at beat 1 again

i.e. if you are getting out 288 bars (1152 beats in 4/4) then something is not quite right about what you are describing

possible sections in 1152 beats in 4/4

You are correct, my bad, seems I missed that step. It does sync up on beat 1 on the 145th bar.. but now I've got 9 16 bar parts.

I guess I'm just twisting and turning this in my head to no advantage really. I'm trying to get it to sync up so I would have an even number of 16 bar parts (4, 8).. which seems very unlikely unless I make a 20 minute track at this point.

Thanks a bunch for your help though, the easiest way for me to achieve what I want is to simply make the clip as long as I want it to be and copy paste it until the track is done.. I can work with odd looping if I need to.

I think it's more of an aesthetic issue for me at this point now :P

Cheers!
