The diskettes 1) are probably unreadable and 2) Where the heck do you find a low density drive compatible with Windows 8.1?
Does anyone know if it's possible to access the hard drive via a MIDI to USB cable or even hardware.

there are USB floppy drives available. A double-sided high density floppy drive should be able to read low density floppies.
I keep a pair of those around for just this reason. I ended up backing up my old ASR-X floppies to CD using one.
